Night Trek to Ghangad and Camping

About Ghangad Fort: Ghangad fort is situated near Lonavala, near the beautiful Mulshi stream which is in Pune District. The history says this fort is actually used as a prison by Peshwa. It was originally occupied by Koli Samant and then was later annexed by Adil Shah and then later on with the Marathas.

Height: 2500 feet, Trek Grade: Easy
Distance from Pune: Approx 75km
Base village: Ekole village
Route: Pune - Lavale - Paud - Mulshi - Ekole village

Trek Experience:
This trek is perfect for people like me who want to trek for fun. I did this trek on 5th & 6th May with the BEYOND MOUNTAINS group. This trip costed 850rs (Pune to Pune transport,  Dinner, Breakfast, Tent accommodation + Expertise) + 350rs(home to pickup point cab fare).

Saturday night:
8:30 PM - we reached our pickup location (Chandani chowk)
9 PM - After picking up people from Deccan and Vanaj stops, the bus reached our pickup point and we all started to Ekole Village. We started playing antakshari and soon we got comfortable with each other. I got a chance to hear some amazing singers during this game.
10 PM - we stopped and took a quick washroom break. And we had our dinner on the bus.
11 PM - we reached the base village & started our Trek.
12 AM - we reached atop. Our group leaders showed us how to make tents and then did tent allotments. We spent some time sharing/listening to the ghost stories
1:30 AM -We went inside our tent at 1:30am for getting some sleep.

Sunday Morning:
5AM - I woke up at 5am and had a very scenic and soothing view. Every 5 min I could witness the change in my surrounding environment.
We had our tea and breakfast and then explored the fort.

Places to See on the fort
1.     Huge Rock-cut Cave  - There are two such caves at the entrance of the fort.
2.     Temple of Goddess Garjai
3.     Water cisterns
4.     Rock patch -Earlier This was a difficult part to cross but some trekking groups have made it easier by installing a ladder on this patch. This was a really great help.
5.     Beautiful view of the Konkan Valley & Tamhini area. Also spotted Sudhagad at the far end.

9:30 AM - We started the return journey to the base village. We reached the village at 10:15am. I got a chance to get a darshan of "Bhairavnath temple" which is in Ekole village.
10:30 AM - We headed back to Pune and reached Pune at 12:15pm.

Overall this trip was very well organized and we all enjoyed each and every moment of it.
