Day trip from Pune to Neelkantheshwar Temple and Someshwar Temple

Day trip to Neelkantheshwar Temple and Someshwar Temple

Neelkantheshwar Temple:

Distance: 55 km (Approx from Ravet, Pune)

Location: near Panshet dam. Last 6 KM road condition up to Nilkanteshwar is less good & on the contrary, the route has most amazing scenery. So enjoy the scenery instead of thinking on the less good road.

Parking charges: 10rs for 2 wheelers, 20rs for 4 wheelers.

Entry Fee: No entry fee

Best time to visit: Try to go during day time. Since there is no street light during the evenings. Do not visit during the summer as you won’t see scenic green nature. Winter is the best time to visit. Visit during rainy will also do as far as it is not foggy otherwise it will block all the scenic views of mountains trees river & dam. No such specific time restriction to enter or exit the temple

Experience of trek and temple:
It has a small trek of around 40-50 minutes. Total trek distance is approx 1.5 km.
70% trek is steep & the last 30% is near to horizontal. The first 25% trek has steps & handrails.  On trek route, few village ladies & girls sell buttermilk & lemon juice for INR 10 per glass. We also enjoyed Jamun. Only one restaurant that serves missal pav is available on the top. Food options at the top are also limited, so carrying your own meal is advisable.
We strolled thru eye-catching colorful mythological sculptures depicting stories of Mahabharata Ramayana & Ancient Hindu Mythologies. For spirituality seekers, the sheer amount and variety of sculptures depicting various mythological tales is incredible and is a testament to the work having been put in by the sculptors. Particularly noteworthy are the scenes of the waking up of Kumbhkaran from the Ramayana, the Sagar Manthan and the Draupadi cheer-Haran scene from the Mahabharata. To educate kids and adults into the richness of Indian culture, a visit here is a must. Wonderful for kids to spend a day.  The statues are indeed lively, beautiful and full of emotions. You will be further surprised when you get to know that this is a single-handed creation by a person called Sarjemama. He was a true Shiva devotee and created this to make people aware of our culture, religion, and mythology!
Scenic view from the top. Amazing Picturesque Natural Sceneries. The natural sceneries of dam river trees mountains behind the sculptures are also very stunning.

Someshwar Temple(पांडवकालीन सोमेश्वर शिव मंदिर):
Pandav Kalin shiv mandir located at Jambli is on the way to  Neelkanteshwar temple (4km before).
It is on side of a water body, not sure if it's a lake or river. Very nice place with no crowd.
Many of the Puneties are unaware of these places.
Please do see the photos to get the real feel of the place from all aspects
