Happy Street Pune

Image
Happy Street is an event concept by Times of India. It happens on Sunday (7am to 9:30am) at any location choosen by TOI. With the help of traffic police they block traffic on a  road and turn that road into fun space. I have been to 4 such events till date. There are so many activities specially for kids like pot colouring, drawing, painting, paper toy making, clay art and there are many more. There are some events for grown ups also like cycling, Live stage singing, Dancing/Excercising session, Tug-of-war, musical chair race, yoga n meditation sessions. All these activities are FREE. One thing, that i like the most about "Happy Street" is that every one over there has smile on their faces, not even a single person is stressed. Another thing that comes natuarlly is positive energy. Children also bring their skates, wave board, skateboard and cycles for having fun. Every time i try different things like skate boarding, cycling, meditation, Tug-of-war, dancing etc. I enjoy t...

Diveagar - A Trip To Remember

Diveagar, Maharashtra, India This was my first trip to Diveagar (12th Nov 2015).  Distance and Route: I took the route from Pune to Diveagar via Pen n Mangaon. It was longer(approx 215km, took approx 6hrs) but the road was good. Hotel: We stayed @ Darya Resort (4800rs for 3 nights, non-delux room through Cleartrip) which is near the famous Ganesh Temple in Diveagar. Good place for family stay. Lots of parking space and play area for kids. Beach is 5 min walk away. Panjabi Food @ resort restaurant was not good but veg thali was good. Diveagar Beach visit: This is a clean beach because only a few food stalls are there. This was my kid's first Beach visit so he enjoyed the touch of seawater and playing in beach sand. I did parasailing (Parachute dragged by Jeep 300 rs). I enjoyed a bike ride with my 1yr old kid. We also enjoyed Ghoda Gaddi Rid. We relaxed on the beach for a few hours and did a lot of photography. Harihareshwar: Harihareshwar is 36km far from Diveagar. H...

Oh Mind Relax Please - Book Review

This is a great book to understand what causes out mind tension and how we can deal with it to relax. Following are my learnings from the book [ ] we have to realise that our action are born from our thoughts. Our thoughts are the product of our values, and values come from our own belief system. if we believe life is miserable, we attract misery; if we believe life is beautiful, it will be beautiful. [ ] Life is a like painting and not arithmetic. The painter chooses to create his own world through his art. [ ] Learn ant's qualities- Flexibility Planning Patience Enjoy each moment Commitment TEAM [ ] We have to wait; our struggle have a cosmic purpose. When our wishes are not fulfilled, it gives us pain. But the Universe has its own plans. Remember how a pot is made from mud by curning n heating. This seems struggle to that mud but the clayman has converted it into a beautiful pot. [ ] Heart of the Education is Educating the Heart. [ ] Faith does not move mountains. ...

High Five - Book Review

High Five (The magic of working together) This is a great book to understand how a team can be a high five team and how you can be a good team player. Basically, an individual can achieve more if s/he is working in a good team. This is a story of a person who got fired from his job in spite of his good individual performance. The reason was that he was not a team player. He started working with a class 5th ice hockey team and with the help of an old lady's wisdom, he discovered the following 4  points which changed his life. These are well described by acronym  P.U.C.K. (1) Providing a clear sense of purpose with values and goals to the team. (2) Unleashing and developing skills. Continuously building individual skills that in turn bolstered collective skills. (3) Creating team power "None of us is as smart as all of us" (4) Keeping the accent on the positive by repeated reward and recognition. Deliberately sought instances where the behavior of people is alig...
