Mangi Tungi Darshan

Mangi Tungi are the two mountain peaks near Taharabad about 125 km from Nashik, Maharashtra. It is a pilgrimage site of Digambar Jain. Height of Mangi is 4343 ft and that of Tungi is 4366 ft. There are well-maintained steps to go till the base of the peaks. There is a 108 ft tall statue of Rishabhdev, the first tirthankar in Jainism. It is famous with name as The Statue of Ahimsa and It is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest Jain idol in the world. There are many temples/caves on hill via a 4000-step climb.

Mangi tungi is 320km from Ravet, Pune and takes around 7.5hr.

On 28Dec2025 we started our journey from Ravet, Pune at 7am. At 10:30am we took a 30min break for breakfast and continued towards Namokar tirth which is on the way to Mangi Tungi ji. Ravet to Namokar tirth(251km 5hr 30min.
During our journey there were diversions at many places due to road work on NH60.
We reached Namokar tirth around 1:30pm. Namokar tirth is still under construction so there was nothing much to see. It had a small temple where we took darshan. We went to bhojnalay and had lunch (80rs per person). Generally jain bhojnalay are very clean but this one was opposite.

We immediate left from Namokar tirth to Mangi Tungi (distance is 71km 2hr).
Just before 6km from Mangi tungi we saw a board of Rishabhdevpuram Digamber Jain Dharmasala and went inside for enquiry. It is a newly constructed building. Rooms are spacious with 2 doubke bed and charge for Jain family is 500rs. We had dinner (only available till 6pm) at bhojnalay fo 80rs per person coupon. It was delicious.

After this we took rest.

On 29Dec, at 7am, we started towards mountain base (6km, 15mins) via our car and took left from the entrance gate. There is free parking available. Near parking we took Jeep(facility provided by trust at rate of 200₹ per person) to go till middle of the peak where we first visited Rishab dev temple and then moved on for Mangi ji and then Tungi ji.
If you want to go by walking trek then there are seperate stairs from right side of the entrance gate.
There are jain temples/caves at both peaks. Once you reach the apex, you will enjoy a breathtaking scenery.

Beware of monkeys. They may snatch anything.
Do not carry anything other than a bottle of water. You will get water bottle, lemon water and cucumber/guava at multiple stalls during trek.

We came back to the base at 12:40pm. We went to old digamber jain dharmshala which is 1km from mountain base and had darshan of 3 temples in the campus and after that had lunch at bhojanshala (90rs per person). It has mouth watering food.

2pm we reached dharmshala and rested.

Next day morning we started back to Pune.
