Rajgad fort from Pune

Rajgad fort (71km from pune, 2.5hr)

Travel date: 27 Dec 2024

Rajgad Fort has 2 base villages, Gunjavane & Pali. You can ascend via two routes starting from these villages and reach top i.e padmavati Machi. One route from Pali which goes to Pali darwaja - easiest of all (OnGoogle map, search for Rajgad Fort Base 2, Raajmarg, Pali, Maharashtra 412213)

Road condition is almost ok but last 20km is single road and some paces its patchy but ca be travelled.

Parking: It has ample parking space. Parking charges for 4 wheeler is 50/- and 2 wheeler is 20/-

Entry fee: 5rs per person

There are few of the shed hotels which serves food, tea, coffee, sugarcane juice. Here there are few toilets however they are not functioning.

Suvela Machi, Sanjeevani Machi and the  ‘MahaDarvaja’ (main door) of Balekilla (fort inside fort) are engineering and architectural marvel. Other key attractions also include the Balekilla, Padmavati Temple, and Sanjivani Machi.

there is a very old temple of Padmavathi Devi Temple in the temple stechu of Devi and Shivaji Maharaj.

Please keep this in mind if you go up to the fort through the Pali Darvaja then descend from the fort also through the Pali Darvaja. Because there is a Chor Darvaja while going down from the fort, if you go down from the fort that way, that way leads to another village. There is a distance of 14 km between Pali village and that village and There is no way for you to come back to your base point.

In only half the way you will find trees and the next half not a single tree so better carry something to cover your head if planning to go in the afternoon. In afternoon, it can be too hot if its sunny.

No food or water availability in trek route

Only water, lemon water availability at the to when you reach which will cost you 40 rs per bottle. So carry enough water (2 lt per person ) and food as it's a long trek and takes around 4 hr to/from climb and at least 3hr for exploring fort places.

Be careful with monkeys while trekking. If you don't annoy them they will not  anything. Keep you belongings in your bagpack
