Shree Atishay Kshetra, Bahubali, kumbhoj, Maharashtra, Digambar Tirth Kshetra

Distance from Pune: 250km (Approx)

Large free Parking place available

Kumbhoj is the name of an ancient town located in Kolhapur district in Maharashtra. about twenty seven kilometers from Kolhapur City.
Although it is accessible, one should preferably travel during daytime. There are two separate areas for Digambar and Shwetamber Temples. Stay facilities and dharamshala facilities are available at both places.

In Digamber area,
At the bottom of the hill, there is a Bahubali Mahamurti situated on about 50 steps up and 8.5 m (28 feet) in height. The idol of Bahubali, with 2 elephants at entrance are splendid and wonderful.
This Tirth has small scale replicas of many Jain Teerth like Gajpantha, Taranga, Mangi-Tungi, Sonagiri and Pavagiri on left and Kailash Parvat (Ashtapad), Shikharji and Girnarji on right side. Samavsharan Mandir is also there. The construction of the Samovasaran displays artistic skill. In this temple, the hearts of devotees are filled with joy of devotion.
No entry fee to visit this place.

There is a Small Mountain (Pahad),which anyone can climb using 300 steps (15-30 Minutes one way). There are 2 access ways to the Mountain temple. One is from behind the Dharamshala near the water tank, other is a better one which is partially paved road n the rest our steps. On hill,
Few Digambar temples and one Shvetambar temple are there. There is a Small water well also which has so many fishes.

Stay:
We stayed at Shri Samant Bhadra Nilay Yatri Nivas. Room charges were 350rs for 5 people in 1 room. Room had 3 beds with extra bedding. Hot water was available at outside tap in early morning.
Kitchen was also there if you want to cook your own meal. But remember to carry your vegetables and food items as there is no food item shop. We went to buy vegetable and fruits from Kumbhoj market which was 2.5km away from temple.

Food:
There is a hotel Atithi where you can have Jain satvik food. You should give order before hand. Thali is 120rs. You can buy home made snacks also from here. This gets closed by 6pm.
There is a tea stall also which gets opened for only few hours.
There are few vendors who sell cucumber and Guava through out day.

Granthalay:
There is a big granthalay is there which has lots of old sashtras. We bought around q7 books from there.

Gurukul:
There is a trust which manages everything, it also runs Jain gurukul (school and college with boarding facility) situated in the campus where kids from all over Maharashtra come, reside  & learn in a spiritual environment. Kids of gurukul are trained and discipline taught to them is commendable.

In Shwetamber area,
We couldn't visit this place due to less time but based on information Jahaj Mandir is there. This is located in Kumbhoj. The Temple is given a shape of Boat hence called "Jahaj temple". Jahaj mandir is very beautiful. The carving of the temple is beautiful. The architecture and concept of the temple is well thought.
The garden has beautiful lights.
Entry charges are ₹10 per person. If u wish to visit the museum inside they charge ₹20. Photography is not allowed inside the temple.
