Bhandardara Trip (Heaven made of waterfalls, lakes and dams)

Bhandardara (Heaven made of waterfalls, lakes, and dams)

Pune to Bhandardara:

Best time to Visit: During Monsoon (June and July)

How to Reach:
There are two routes -
Route1 (approx 169km )- Pune -Narayangaon- Ozar-Otur-Brhmanwada-Kotul-Rajur-Shendi-Bhandardara
Route2 (approx 200km) - Pune -Chakan-Narayangaon-Sangamer-Akola-Ghoti-Bhandardara
We tried Route1 because we wanted to visit Ozar Ganpati. We paid a 31 rs toll near Manchar. The road till Ozar is good after that road is very patchy and narrow so it took 1hr more than what Google map estimated. There were only 2-3 steep turns.

Day1:
Ozar Vighneshwar Ganpati: This is one of the Asthavianayak Temple. It's a very nice place. There was no crowd because we visited on Friday. Its a beautiful temple and had a grand entrance. In front of the temple, there is the Kukadi River with a great scenic view. We had our breakfast and headed to Bhandardara.

Bhandardara
The road from Ozar to Bhandardara is very narrow and not good. We did not book our stay in advance so we struggled to find a decent and budget hotel and wasted 2 hours. Good hotels here charge hell lot of money on the weekend (from 3000rs to 35000rs). Finally, we got rooms in Amruteshwar Resort and Sai Nivas. I think one should book a hotel in advance (prefer lakeside view rooms of MTDC). If your budget is good you can also book Yash resort and Anandvan resort.

For sightseeing, we hired a guide (name: Pandarinath, mobile: 070 66 227352). Initially, I was reluctant to hire a guide because all the points are listed on google. But when my friend insisted I agreed. We paid 600rs for the guide. It was the money well spent. The guide was very genuine and helpful. He showed us below mentioned places and saved us a lot of time. I would recommend hiring him for the tour.

Day2:
  1. Panjare falls
  2. Reverse waterfall: Amazing waterfall from 4200 feet height Konkan Kada, Samrad near Sandhan Valley where water splashes back due to gusty winds. This can be seen only during monsoon.
  3. Sandhan valley
  4. Ghat ghar
  5. Kokan kada
  6. Amruteshwar temple, Ratanwadi: Amruteshwar Temple is an ancient Shiva temple
  7. Necklace falls
  8. Nahani Falls
Day3:
  1. Bhandardara dam:
  2. Wilson Dam: The Wilson Dam, built on Pravara river is the largest earthen dam in India
  3. Umbrella falls: The Umbrella Falls are the falls formed under the Wilson Dam and the force by which the waterfalls on the naturally placed rocks that give an impression of an umbrella.
  4. Randha waterfall: Randha Falls of the Pravara river has clear water that ferociously falls from a height 170ft into a magnificent ravine.
