The Aga Khan Palace was built in 1892 by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in Pune, India.
Aga Khan Palace is a majestic building. Aga Khan palace has Italian arches and spacious lawns. Aga Khan Palace was donated to the Indian people by Aga Khan IV as a mark of respect to Gandhi and his philosophy.

The palace is closely linked to the Indian freedom movement ( Quit India Movement) as it served as a prison for Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, his secretary Mahadev Desai and Sarojini Naidu from 9 August 1942 to 6 May 1944. It is also the place where Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai died during their captivity period in the palace and have their Samadhis located over here behind the palace.

A good educational visit for the students and the young generation. The palace has only 3 rooms open on the ground floor for visitors. There are some statues and photos in each of the rooms detailing the freedom movement.  It also Includes Gandhi's clothes and belongings.



                     












Upper floors of the palace are closed to public. i wish that some time they will open top floor as well.
This place is surprisingly beautiful and very well maintained. They have kept the place almost as if it was 7 decades back. Place has aura of old independence freedom fighters.
The building has a beautiful structure and the garden surrounding it is pretty and peaceful.  Good for one time visit.
